2017 is here, and with a new year comes a new round of remodeling trends.

A Chicago area remodeler recently offered their trends to a Pioneer Press (St. Paul) columnist, and most of them match up with the needs of Valley residents.

Every remodeling trend piece begins with the kitchen, and it looks like 2017 is no exception. People spend a lot of time socializing and working in their kitchens, so remodeling to include an island will be a big hit. The additional space helps with entertaining and working, as well as cooking.

Classic appeal will also rule in 2017. The article notes that white cabinets and subway tile are still strong in most homes. Both offer clean looks with timeless appeal.

Outside of the kitchen, the article says making master suites truly amazing will continue in the new year. Matching the impressive trifecta of bedroom, bathroom and closet space found in most luxury hotels excites many homeowners.

Other trends include low-maintenance flooring and mixing and matching textures, the article says.

Whether you are looking at all of the trends or just one, MK Remodeling & Design is ready to lend its expertise and help you meet any home resolutions for 2017.

Have a great week, and happy new year!
