MK Remodeling & Design wins Best of Houzz for third year in a row

MESA, Ariz. – MK Remodeling & Design has won Best Of Customer Service on Houzz®, the leading platform for home renovation and design. The award-winning, full-home remodeling company was chosen by the Houzz community for the third consecutive year from among more than 2.1 million active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.

We couldn’t be more happy to receive this award three years in a row,” said James Gillis, MK Remodeling & Design Chief Financial Officer. “It has taken a great deal of hard work and focus on the clients on our part, however we have been fortunate to work with some outstanding clients on some fun and exciting projects that make our jobs much easier.”

The Best Of Houzz badge is awarded annually, in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography. Customer Service honors are based on several factors, including a pro’s overall rating on Houzz and client reviews submitted in 2018.

A “Best Of Houzz 2019” badge will appear on winners’ profiles as a sign of their commitment to excellence. These badges help homeowners identify popular and top-rated home professionals in every metro area on Houzz.

“Best of Houzz is a true badge of honor as it is awarded by our community of homeowners, those who are hiring design, remodeling and other home improvement professionals for their projects,” said Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing for Houzz.

Choosing your own remodeling adventure

Winter is here, which means the holidays are upon us.

“Winter” in the Southwest is comfortable for having guests over, so remember to make a mental list of ways your home could improve for entertaining or for comfort.

Some people struggle to commit to remodeling because they can’t settle on the reason to do it. Should you remodel for yourself? Should you remodel for resale? The answer depends on your timeline, as this helpful article explains.

If you see yourself moving in five or so years, think about remodeling for resale. That means going over a list of things buyers like with an expert, such as a designer or real estate agent, and coming up with a cost-efficient plan.

If you don’t see yourself moving for 10 years or so, if ever, then personalize away! Make that home the living space of your dreams. Remember, the best return on investment is happiness!

Speaking of winter remodeling, here is an article on the best projects to do over the winter.

Obviously, Arizona doesn’t see nearly as much of a slow down in remodeling during the winter as other regions, so keep that in mind while reading the article. It lists installing hardwood floors, and kitchen or bathroom remodels as a few options.

Finally, if you are more concerned with trends, we have you covered!

Here’s an article from the Midwest, my neck of the woods, about a study from our friends at Houzz. Houzz says baby boomers, those age 55 and older, are remodeling to comfortably age in place. They also account for the biggest remodeling spenders, the article says.

Have a great week!

Remodeling projects for fall, keeping up with the neighbors, and other links

The night air is starting to chill across the country, while the rest of us in the Valley of the Sun continue to bake. But just because fall is starting everywhere else doesn’t mean we have to sit out for all the fun.

The time to start is now if you hope to get a home improvement project finished before the holidays. This article from the Shreveport Times spotlights a few projects that are popular for autumn, including replacing windows, strengthening the roof, sprucing up patios, and getting started on any additions.

No matter where you start, it’s a good idea to enlist the help of experts and make sure the whole house conforms to the same theme and flow.

Award-winning interior designer Marie Flanigan outlines her strategy to the Houston Chronicle, saying it is important to pay attention to architectural details, color, light, scale, and texture no matter the size of your project.

And don’t worry about trying to entice Flanigan from the Houston area. We know a designer that will definitely rock your world.

Lastly, we know remodeling inspiration comes in many forms. But it seems more people are comfortable admitting they are trying to keep up with the neighbors.

According to this article, just under half of folks, 48 percent, admit to beginning a remodel because they are envious of a neighbor, friend or relative’s house. Also, 42 percent say they feel competition to have the nicest house in the neighborhood.
