Houzz survey says more people are remodeling instead of moving, and other links

The Houzz and Home survey was released this week, and its numbers suggest people are remodeling to stay in their homes for the long haul.

Among the highlights:

  • Sixty-six percent of non-millenial homeowners who are remodeling plan to stay in their home for the long term.
  • Fifty-three percent of U.S. homeowners are remodeling to increase the value of their home, but do not plan to move for at least five years.
  • Fifty-two percent of homeowners planning a project in the next two years are looking to hire a general contractor.
